Tina + Jay | Married

“My mum always said things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end. If not always in the ways we expect".

Tina and Jay's love story is unconventional, incredibly heartwarming, and a lesson that home is a heart not a house.

"We got married at age 17 when we were young and dumb, and had no clue how hard it was not only living outside of our parents' home, but also how hard it would be live with and love someone every single day," Tina said. "After being married for just a few months, we learned that we were expecting our first baby...a boy. We then decided to divorce, but always co-parented well. We learned to be friends again and started dating. Then another little boy came. We learned that, in fact, we did still love each other and that we should be together."

In 2015, Tina and Jay welcomed another beautiful boy, along with a strong pull to re-marry.

When I first met with Tina to plan a timeline for their wedding, she mentioned how excited she was for the photos. She said photos from their first wedding definitely showed two [and too] young "terrified" teenagers.  Entering back into marriage, the have become young adults more open to growth, armed with the respect it takes to walk together in marriage.

Their wedding was absolutely gorgeous! Mishaps on the wedding day are expected. Some of the notable ones from The Barrowes' wedding include a bridesmaid's zipper not working and having to be literally sewed into her dress and oh... IT WAS THE HOTTEST DAY OF THE YEAR. Throughout it all, Tina and Jay were incredibly laid back and calm. Tina had planned for everything. She even had a waffle brunch bar ready for their wedding party. #goals  More than anything, you could tell they both knew at the end of the day, the only thing that would matter is that they were married.

During the reception, Tina had several surprises up her sleeve including a tearful acoustic performance of "Say You Won't Let Go" by James Arthur and breaking it down with her boys during the Mother/Son Dance. From sunup to sundown, Tina and Jay were moving and, now that the wedding is over, they have big plans for their family.

"We now have plans to move to Texas for a job opportunity and start the process needed to adopt a baby girl! We are happier than ever and it took our long and hard journey to be where we are today!"
